What we do
We track the tools people use to merge, overlay, blend, and compare images — pixel-diff viewers, before/after sliders, overlay and blend editors, collage makers, and batch comparison utilities. Each one is run through the same tests and scored point by point, then sorted into ranked tiers.
The criteria we score on
Every tool is judged against a fixed rubric, chosen to reflect how people actually compare images:
- Comparison accuracy — does the tool surface real differences without false noise?
- Diff clarity — how legibly it shows what was added and what was removed.
- Overlay & merge controls — layers, blend modes, opacity, and alignment aids.
- Split-pane experience — the smoothness and precision of before/after reveals.
- Formats & export — supported file types and how easily results can be saved or shared.
- Value — what the free tier offers and whether paid plans are worth it.
How tiers work
Scores roll up into ranked buckets — from all-around suites that do everything well, down to specialists that win a single lane. A tier tells you where a category of tool stands; individual tool reviews and scores are being added as we finish testing them.
Our promise
